Technical specifications and features

The 1928 Bugatti Type 43 Grand Sport was one of the fastest road cars of its era, capable of reaching 100 mph thanks to its detuned inline-eight engine sourced from the Type 35B Grand Prix car. With 120 bhp, this supercharged engine combined with a robust chassis and carefully designed components allowed the Type 43 to set a new standard in road-going performance.

  • Chassis: Derived from the Type 33 prototype with curved side rails and a longer wheelbase for additional passenger comfort
  • Transmission: A mid-mounted transmission, unique to the Type 43
  • Axles & wheels: Featuring Type 38 axles and enhanced with larger aluminum wheels and brakes for superior handling
  • Distinctive design: The Type 43 features the signature cigar-shaped frame, pointed tail, louvred sides, and aluminum-forged wheels that are immediately recognizable and highly desirable among collectors.
