 Detailed Description

This specific model was one of only five Type 23 vehicles dispatched from Molsheim and sent to the well-known London-based agent Chas. Jarrot & Letts Ltd. Out of these five cars, numbered 2383 to 2387, only three have stood the test of time. Chassis number 2386, equipped with the iconic 16-valve engine, is one of the fortunate survivors.

Originally, this car was delivered to the London Bugatti agent in chassis form in 1925 and received its first registration on November 11, 1925, with the current registration number. While most of the mechanical specifications remain original (except for an engine block replacement in the 1950s due to damage to the original engine), the present body, closely resembling the believed original body, was installed in 1989, replacing a racing-style body fitted in the late 1950s. Interestingly, the original engine 758 from 2386 still exists and is currently fitted to another Bugatti T23.

Under the hood, the engine of this car has been meticulously maintained and is in impeccable condition, a testament to the care and attention it has received. Extensive work has been carried out, including a top-end rebuild and the installation of a new cylinder block. Marque specialist Ivan Dutton separately rebuilt the engine's bottom end, ensuring both reliability and performance. Other noteworthy modifications include the replacement of the radiator by Anglia Radiators and the conversion of the clutch from wet to dry, while retaining the original parts with the car to showcase the restoration's precision.

The car is accompanied by a comprehensive history file, which includes a Sewell report and detailed documentation of the restoration. Additionally, the file contains extensive correspondence from previous owners, providing valuable insights into the car's history.

The car also comes with an expired FIVA Passport with an A3 classification. Importantly, there are substantial invoices from Gentry Restorations dating back to 2014, demonstrating the significant investments made in restoring and maintaining the car to its current exceptional condition.
