About the car

This Talbot Lago represents the golden era of French motoring, a rare and beautifully presented 4.0 litre specimen fitted with a hand built roadster body. With its long bonnet and flowing lines, this Talbot captures everything that makes prewar European sports cars so special. This particular Talbot Lago was rebuilt by respected VSCC stalwart Peter Wigglesworth, known for his knowledge and excellent craftmanship. In the early 2000's, Peter travelled to France with friend and collector John Guyatt, where they met a highly regarded member of the Talbot Lago Owners Club who owned a T23. The car was in good condition, consisting of the chassis, engine, Wilson pre-selector 4-speed gearbox, rear axle, most of the instrumentation and the original bulkhead, stamped with the correct Talbot Lago number. After purchasing the car, Peter began a detailed restoration. The interior was professionally reupholstered by Ron Osborne, while the engine rebuild and gearbox overhaul were carried out by Cecil Schumacher.

Engine

The 4.0 litre engine in the T23 is a straight six, long stroke unit designed for torque and endurance rather than high revs. It features a robust cast iron construction with a crossflow inspired layout, delivering smooth linear power. Mated to the Wilson pre selector gearbox, the engine provides strong mid range pull and flexible performance with a focus on mechanical durability and consistent output under load.

This particular car also boasts an HCS 2.4 litre conversion.
Giving it a very healthy performance increase close to that of its bigger brother the 4.5 litre Meadows.

The car we offer here is the very first supercharged 2L,
considered as the works prototype car, used for promotion and is in an absolute fabulous condition.

This car is without doubt the best driving 2 Litre Lagonda of any type that we have ever driven.
Fantastic and highly recommended car for any pre-war appreciator.
